
The 2017 Super Duty Makes the Switch to Aluminum
It's getting harder and harder to find a truck that isn't made of aluminum these days, at least if you're looking at the Ford lineup. The perennial favorite Ford F-150 first made the switch to the lightweight military-grade alloy for the 2015 model year, acting as a guinea pig for the industry. Others waited on bated breath for whether the material would flop, or fly.
Aluminum has many advantages over steel. It is:
- Lighter weight
- Immune to rusting
- Highly recyclable
- Equally, or even more dent and ding resistant
